Virtual hammer falls at our eighth online property auction

A former school in Cumbria was among a range of commercial and residential property to go under the virtual hammer at the eighth online auction for Manchester-based Landwood Property Auctions.

The former Infant and Junior school buildings in Brampton were offered by the company on behalf of Cumbria County Council after standing empty for almost a decade.

Several bidders fought it out before the hammer came down – the 0.6-acre site, which served the community from the 1800s until 2009 when Brampton's Infant and Junior schools amalgamated, closed with an £85,000 price tag.

The online property auction sold properties from as far north as County Durham right down through Greater Manchester, into the Midlands and South Wales.

One of the highlights for the company was the result on a terraced property in Heywood, Greater Manchester, which went for almost £30,000 over the guide price and attracted 34 bids.

James Ashworth, Director of Landwood Property Auctions, said: “It was exciting to see how much interest was generated from this month's sale, our eighth in the calendar this year. It gives us great satisfaction to be acting for a number of new clients, plus repeat customers such as Cumbria County Council, to help them sell properties of all shapes and sizes.

“It's become clear after hosting eight online auctions since coming to market in early 2018 that this method of sale is becoming more and more popular, bringing a wealth of benefits to both sellers and bidders. Our PropTech is backed by an experienced team that understands how best to use the platform and give the best professional advice.”

With instructions from Devon right up to Cumbria, acting for a range of clients such as liquidators, mortgagees and private individuals, Landwood Property Auctions continue to offer a wide variety of property for sale, from development opportunities to commercial and residential properties.

James continued: “Our success rate has remained consistently high for our clients, who have varied from local authorities, receivers and other insolvency practitioners and private clients. By offering auction lots exclusively online, we offer great flexibility in the process with the added bonus that bidders can get involved from the comfort of their home or offices.”
